Greenfield to Live Social Fitness Platform
Who They Are / What We Were Dealing With
What needed to change
Building a consumer-facing social product from scratch means every early decision compounds. Auth, social graph, workout data, mobile performance, real-time interactions. All of it has to work on day one of public launch, on the device the user has, on the network they're on. There's no MVP escape hatch when the product itself is the thing being judged.
What we were dealing with:
- Greenfield product with no existing engineering substrate
- Mobile-first requirement on a consumer-facing social use case
- Social-graph modeling and real-time interaction patterns
- Public-launch readiness at venture-stage engineering quality
The Brief
Scope was full-stack engineering ownership through public launch. No phased pilot. No bare-bones MVP. A product that could carry weight the day it went live.
We were engaged to:
- Build the platform from clean greenfield to public launch
- Architect for mobile as the primary surface, not an afterthought
- Ship at the engineering quality of a venture-stage build
- Carry the platform through 660+ production pull requests of feature and infrastructure work
The Engagement
Scope at a glance
How we worked together
Embedded full-stack engineering with the founder as direct stakeholder. No agency account layer, no team-to-team handoffs. Every PR reviewed and merged under one continuity-of-ownership model across two repos (twobirdsfit-ui and twobirdsfit-api).
How We Did It
Next.js as the platform
Picked Next.js for the mobile-first surface. Server-rendered where it matters, client-rendered for the social interactions, one codebase across the product.
Mobile-first, mobile-measured
Designed every interaction for the phone first. Mobile Lighthouse was the production gate, not a post-launch chore. The live app holds 95.
PR-driven velocity
660+ production pull requests across the engagement. Every change reviewed, tested, merged through a consistent CI pipeline.
Full-stack ownership
One team across auth, social graph, API, and deploy. No vendor handoffs, no service-boundary tax, no integration debt accruing in the corners.
The Results
What changed after we shipped
- Platform live and operating at app.twobirdsfit.com
- Mobile-first product holding Lighthouse 95 in production
- 660+ PRs of compounded feature and infrastructure work shipped
- Founder concept moved from idea to operating consumer product
KPIs tracked
Key Takeaway
Consumer social products live or die on day-one experience on the device people actually use. TwoBirdsFit shipped with that experience built into the platform from the first commit, not retrofitted before launch.
